Practical Experimentation

1)
Hyper Light Drifter
I am using the colour palette edg32 in asprite.
Their character:

My character:
For this art style I drew heavy inspiration from the game 'Hyper Light Drifter'. Although this style is very aesthetically pleasing it is time consuming. overall I believe that this was a success since this style is something I would like to incorporate with another style to make the style more simple and less time consuming. I created this on asprite.

For this art style I used the game 'Etir'. the art style for this game is more simple when it comes to the character design (as shown above) the player has thin legs and no distinct facial features. I tried to replicate this with my own character and in my opinion is experiment was unsuccessful since I feel like I couldn't capture the same likeness as the character in the game. I also made this on asprite.
Doko Roko

For this style I used the game 'Doko Roko' as inspiration. 'Doko Roko' has a very cartoon-like style and this is what I have attempted to incorporate into my own sprite. I believe that this experiment was a success, however i do not believe that this style will work with the aesthetic of my finished game. This sprite was made on asprite.
Mixture:
Here I have taken attributes from all the previous styles and created a sprite that i believe is the most successful. however i have created a vote to determine witch style my target audience would prefer.

The character designs in the game 'Portal' are in 3D and are robotic to imply a more futuristic setting. The designs work very well with the game and it's mechanics.
Here i took inspiration from the character Chell who is the last surviving human in the game. I took her "worker" uniform and incorparaed it into my design. overall this design was a success.

The character designs in the game 'Until Dawn' are based off of celebrities. The style of the characters are very realistic ensuring a immersive game play.
Here I have taken attributes from all the previous styles and created a sprite that i believe is the most successful. however i have created a vote to determine witch style my target audience would prefer.

Baba Is You:
Baba's design is i 2D and very plain and simple however the design goes well with the game because it makes the player stand out from other objects.
For this design i took inspiration from 'baba is you'. I used the simple black and white design to stay true to the game's design. Overall this design was a success.
Portal:

The character designs for this game make the characters look wealthy and noble however these are not accurate to the player's looks as well as the woman's looks. in fact the woman looks a lot more gruesome and I am heavily inspired by this gruesome aesthetic and wish to incorporate this into my game.

This is the first design inspired by the mother/ wife in the game 'layers of fear'. I liked the design with the bandages and scars so I attempted to implement this into my design however i don not believe that this was a successful design.
